RAW MEAT DIET WITH BONES AND ORGANS www.catnutrition.org/recipe.html
We make a double batch each time and it makes about 12-13 pounds of food.
5 pounds FRESH chicken legs and thighs that you will grind. I leave the skin on if the chicken is not overly fat just removing any big fat hunks. If your cat is not as active as a Siamese, you may want to remove all the skin to reduce the fat content. 7 –8 oz. Chicken liver
In a bowl mix: see note below 4000 mg of Taurine – 1 tsp. NOW powder 2 cups of water 4 raw Egg yolks 4000 mg Carlson Salmon oil….4 caps of 1000 mg each 200 mg Vitamin B complex….2 caps of 100 mg each 800 IU Vitamin E ...2 caps of 400 mg each 1 tsp Lite Salt
Add water mixture with supplements and eggs to meat, package in plastic containers and freeze. I use Rubbermaid “Take Along” containers. The packaged meat will keep in refrigerator for two days.
NOTE: Into 1 cup of water, I put the taurine, salt, yolks. The salmon oil capsules, Vit E capsules and Vit B capsules are put directly into the grinder while grinding the meat. When the meat and liver are ground, I add the water slurry and additional water to the mixing bowl; mix and spoon into containers. If you want to freeze in meal portions, you can freeze meat in muffin tins. After the meat is frozen, remove from tin and put into a plastic freezer bag.
OPTIONAL: Not all cats require additional fiber (psyllium) in their diet. Can add 4 tsp. Psyllium husk powder or 8 tsp. whole Psyllium husk to mix. Some cats get constipated without additional fiber and some with the fiber.
GRINDER: I have used the Tasin 108 grinder for years but now am using a Weston 22. This grinder accepts larger pieces of chicken and does not require constant use of the plunger.
